100th Anniversary of First Carrier Take-off

100th Anniversary
of US Navy's 1st Carrier take-off

On November 10, 1910, Curtiss pilot Eugene Ely flies off a wooden deck on the USS Birmingham in a 50 h.p. Curtiss pusher airplane.

On January 18th, 1911, Ely landed a pusher on another platform built on the after deck of the cruiser USS Pennsylvania anchored in San Francisco Bay.
